SUMMARY:
The author surveys major trends in thinking about nationalism. His attention is attracted by the interrelations of such categories as nationalism, liberalism and democracy. Arguing against ethnicist visions of nationalism, the author attempts to place the tradition of liberal nationalist paradigm into the context of today's Russian Federation.
